Imagine stepping into the shoes of those who tirelessly provide, often overshadowed by the glaring needs of the ones they care for; on September 12th, this unspoken resilience became the focal point of our discussion.

On September 12th, the "Carer's Gateway" team from Chung Wah Community Care (Chung Wah CC) was invited to host a discussion at the ISHAR Multicultural Women's Health Services Community Centre in Mirrabooka. About a dozen community members from non-English speaking backgrounds attended, with the presentation being delivered in English, Vietnamese, Persian, and Burmese.

People often overlook the fact that they are, indeed, carers. If you are offering unpaid care and assistance to family or friends who have disabilities, illnesses, mental health issues, or who are frail and aged, you qualify as a carer. The crucial point is caring for others can be a highly challenging job. Therefore, carers need care too! Chung Wah CC staff comprehensively introduced the community members to the "Carer's Gateway" program. "Carer's Gateway" is a free service initiated by the Australian government, providing emotional, social, and substantial support for carers.

Chung Wah CC recently joined the program, becoming one of the partner agencies with Carers WA, providing assessment services for carers from non-English speaking backgrounds and assisting them in obtaining relevant information and support from the "Carer's Gateway".
